Under the leadership of the Quality Manager, performs a wide variety of tests and assays on factory In-process samples, along with other analyses on intermediates, raw materials or finish goods as needed and various service request samples.
Prepares and standardizes various chemical reagents, solutions, standards used in either the laboratory or production area.
Receives daily assignments orally from Quality Manager.
Calculates and reports results either to the appropriate area or to a Quality Manager.
This position requires the following working conditions:
Candidates will be required to work with hazardous chemicals while wearing personal protective equipment.
The site is a manufacturer of Beta Lactam antibiotics, and as a result, candidates must be able to work in and around the manufacturing and laboratory areas associated with such chemicals.
The majority of each workday will be spent working in a laboratory environment where physical requirements will include walking, standing, sitting, and carrying objects to perform required testing in a safe manner.
Candidates must be able to work a variety of schedules, including 12 shift rotations, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
Required Skills:
B.S. In Chemistry or equivalent science degree.
Incumbents must have the ability to lift/carry 40 pounds and the ability to manipulate and operate sensitive laboratory instruments and samples in a safe manner.
Candidate must be proficient in common laboratory techniques and practices.
Candidates should have good time management and technical writing skills, as well as a basic knowledge in the use of computers for data handling of laboratory test results.
Have a good working knowledge of GMP's.
Have a good understanding of environmental issues and be able to handle samples and reagents in accordance with the current environmental policies.
Possess the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision as well as the ability to multitask and demonstrate flexibility within a team.
This 20+ month position starts ASAP.
