SENIOR SCIENTIST
WEST POINT, PA
Project Description:
  • The Chemical Biology group within the department of Quantitative Biosciences at the Client's Research Laboratories is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated team member to develop and execute modality agnostic cell-based assays to support early drug discovery and target validation efforts across multiple therapeutic areas (Infectious Disease, Neuroscience, and beyond).
  • Optimize and support cell-based assays across diverse endpoint technologies.
  • Utilize semi-automated liquid handling and other laboratory instrumentation as needed.
  • Support specialized and routine cell culture techniques for assay development and screening efforts.
  • Perform data analysis and documentation/reporting of experimental findings and assay protocols.
  • Comply with all organizational and department laboratory safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization on multi-disciplinary discovery project teams.

Required Skills:
  • B.Sc. /M.Sc. With 3-5 years of experience or PhD in Cell Biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline with 0-3 years within industry/academics specifically drug discovery.
  • Experience and understanding of cell-based assay techniques for screening and/or assessment of pharmacology across multiple modalities.
  • Hands-on laboratory research experience including assay development, execution, and experimental troubleshooting for plate-based assay formats.
  • Solid data analysis and problem-solving skills with proficiency in standard scientific software used for data analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively and independently in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Software: MS office suite, ELN (Electronic lab-notebook).
  • Proficiency with medium & high-throughput screening formats, screening technologies, and laboratory automation.
  • Experience working with various cell types to support endpoint assays in a BSL2 environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with primary or stem cell-derived cells along with lenti- and adeno-viral construct systems.
  • Experience with executing CRISPR-mediated genome editing workflows is a plus.
  • Operation of Hamilton platform, Bravo, Multidrop combi, ECHO acoustic liquid handling instruments, and various plate readers.
  • Proficiency with GraphPad Prism and/or TIBCO Spotfire.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed organization.

This 12+ month position starts ASAP.
