ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, IT PROJECT MANAGER, PHARMACEUTICAL / LABORATORY
LEXINGTON, MA
LOCATION: Lexington MA.
SCHEDULE: 8: 30 to 530 (Flexible).
Must be Onsite.
DURATION: 6 months with possible extension.
The pay Ranges between $100.78 to $103.00 per hour.
Project Description:
- The position is responsible for Information Technology at Cleint's Research Sites US sites, and coordinates activities to deliver service & solutions with other company IT units, external service providers, etc. With special focus on laboratory IT.
- This position is responsible for leadership of and management of the research IT activities in the delivery of highly available, customer focused, cost effective systems and services.
- The solutions are used for highly complex wet laboratory disciplines and computational science tasks within pharmaceutical research. Including but not limited to:
- Leading the IT tracks supporting corporate aspiration of using fully or highly automated laboratory platforms in the client's US Research sites. Handles automation hardware and software equipment's to execute high through-put target validation and screening.
- Ensure maintenance, quality control and validation of laboratory instrumentation. Identifies and operationalizes new techniques in collaboration with other stakeholders.
- This position will be responsible for developing and executing the overall IT aspiration and achieving performance standards within the areas of operation.
- This individual is key to ensuring alignment of the IT area with the overall R&D strategy and goals for R&D in North America.
- This position will be conducting, influencing, and leading IT Engineering and conducting IT Project Management tasks for selected tasks.
- Manage, develop, and lead the laboratory it team:
- Manage IT staff through training, development, and performance management to maximize the team's value to the organization.
- Plan, direct and manage the daily operations of the IT department in accordance with internal and external regulations and procedures (IT Governance).
- Develops and executes it strategic plans:
- Identifies issues, opportunities and solutions that may be leveraged across business functions and understands how they may impact other functions in the organization.
- Ensures self and team execute strategies, and monitors metrics to evaluate systems, processes, and tool effectiveness.
- Ensures Business needs are understood, planned, prioritized, and executed upon in close collaboration with NNRC's management, stakeholders, and Global IT.
- Builds relationships and influences key stakeholders:
- Demonstrates the ability to influence expectations and negotiate with global stakeholders to produce desired effects on actions, behaviors, and business outcomes.
- Facilitates cross-functional collaboration among necessary stakeholders when making decisions and developing strategic plans.
- Able to represent the department, DDIT RED and DDIT in the area of responsibility towards stakeholders.
- Develops and maintains systems, applications, and infrastructure:
- Follows IT security best practices, policies, and procedures in support of IT security programs.
- Analyzes user requirements, develops, and implements functional specifications and configurations for complex systems, and ensures requirements are met.
- Champions best practices within functional area to enhance IT solutions and improve processes and results.
- Champions recommendations and improvements to system and process performance and functionality
- Understands the needs of company functions and translates them into innovative business and IT solutions.
- Monitors and manages overall system and recommends solutions to hardware or software problems and issues.
- Leverage IT technology principles, knowledge, and practices.
- Provides Technology Support and Services.
- Manages it projects/vendors:
- Proactively seeks buy-in with stakeholders, and engages in continuous communication regarding project status, budget, and milestones.
- Reviews and evaluates vendor performance (i.E., against KPIs and SLAs) to ensure that service is successful and identifies areas for improvement for future vendor services.
- Provides clear and adequate direction, guidance, and feedback to vendors to manage their performance and ensure business objectives are met and builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors.
- Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
- Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
- Manage the application and communication of all company policies, procedures, and company Way.
- Interacts with senior internal/external personnel on technical matters often requiring coordination between departments/organizations.
- Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
- 12+ years' relevant experience required with a bachelor's degree, of which 6 must be from pharma R&D.
- 10+ years relevant experience with a master's degree.
- People management/supervision as line manager or through project management.
- Experience with Computer Science, IT, programming/systems analysis, or another related topic.
- Experience from the pharmaceutical industry preferably within Research or Development.
- R&D/Laboratory IT experience.
- Ability to represent the department as a prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
- Ability to perform work with very limited direction and to determine the technical objectives of the assignment/project.
- Flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment are required.
- Excellent collaboration skills.
- A strong team player that brings people along through a supportive, engaged, and creative way of working.
- 0-10% overnight travel required.
