Location: Itasca, IL 
Base: 65-85k
(Please note base salary is based on expeirence and can go outside of the range)
Bonus: Yes, biannual bonus payouts 
Work Model: Alternating weeks in office, work from home

Job Summary:

The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting the growth of sales of all products in the North American territory. They are responsible for assisting Channel Sales Representatives, Channel Partners, and end user customers . Working in conjunction with the Sales Reps, Sales Engineers are responsible for understanding and supporting channel partner goals surrounding technical expertise within their sales, implementation, and support phases.

Sales Engineer will help create and deliver technical training to channel partners on all products. They will also call on end user customers and prospects alongside Channel Partner Sales and Technical personnel to support the channel partner activities. And whenever appropriate, they will support Sales Reps’direct sales efforts.

The Sales Engineer will also assist management in evaluating the performance of each channel partner, identifying gaps in the channel partner’s technical expertise, and suggesting ways to close said technical gaps.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Become a technical subject matter expert for a supplier’s products (instrumentation/automation components used in factory/process automation).
  • Become literate in each of the other product offerings.
  • Become proficient in demonstrating company products.
  • Serve as the main technical point of contact for channel partners and end user customers in all phases of the sales cycle.
  • Scope, implement, monitor, and report on all product trials.
  • Help to create and conduct technical training for channel partners and end user customers.
  • Understand channel partner technical organizations and their goals.
  • Recommend products, create Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Maintain and manage relationships with key technical decision makers and key team members at channel partners.
  • Maintain and organize marketing materials and demo units to facilitate the promotion of products.
  • Assist in coordinating channel partner events & webinars, as well as present webinar content.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management to support the growth and development of the marketplace within the territory.

Requirements:
  • Good understanding of factory and process automation including interface products
  • Some knowledge about signal, and communication protocols, and automation control
  • At least 2 years of related field experience in a similar type of role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to transfer knowledge effectively.
  • Must be thorough in both preparation and follow-through, including documenting activities.
  • Electrical engineering degree is a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Travel:

Approximately 50% up to 75% depending on current projects
